General Guide of Writing Prompts

Want to create stunning AI-generated artworks like those featured on PixAI’s trending page? The key lies in mastering prompts—the instructions you provide to guide the AI in generating images.
While you can use existing works as references, crafting personalized prompts allows you to bring your unique vision to life. In this guide, we’ll explore the fundamentals of prompt writing, along with advanced techniques to help you maximize PixAI’s potential.
Let’s dive in and unlock the secrets of creating breathtaking AI art!

What Is a Prompt?

prompt is the textual instruction you provide to an AI image generator, serving as a blueprint for the artwork. Think of it as giving directions to an artist—except instead of a human, you’re guiding an intelligent algorithm.
With prompt helper, you can describe your vision in natural language (e.g., "a cute anime girl wearing sunglasses on a sunny day") or use short, descriptive tags (e.g., "1girl, sunglasses, sunny day"). The AI interprets these instructions and generates an image accordingly.
Key Insight: The more specific and detailed your prompt, the better the AI can match your imagination.

Structuring Your Prompts for Best Results

When using PixAI's models, the most effective way to structure your prompts is by using descriptive 'tags' or short phrases. Separate these tags with commas to ensure clarity and precision.

Example of a Well-Structured Prompt:

"1girl, long flowing red hair, green eyes, elegant black dress, lace details, standing, balcony, neon lights, cinematic lighting, ultra-detailed"

Prompt Writing Tips

1. The Order of Your Prompt Matters

Think of your prompt as a storytelling sequence—the AI prioritizes elements based on their placement.

Subject (Main focus, e.g., "1girl")
Appearance Details (Hair, eyes, clothing)
Action & Pose (What the subject is doing)
Location & Background
Style & Aesthetic
Example:

"1girl, bangs, long blonde hair, green eyes, hair ribbon, serafuku, blue skirt, sitting, holding books, school classroom, masterpiece, highly detailed, watercolor."

Note: Elements at the beginning of the prompt carry more weight, while those at the end have less influence.

2. Emphasis: Strengthening or Weakening Tags

You can adjust the AI’s focus using:
Parentheses `( )` → Increase importance
Square Brackets `[ ]` → Decrease importance

Example (Strengthening a Feature):

"1boy, short hair, high school uniform, standing, balcony, (cloud), ultra-detailed, cinematic lighting."

Example (Weakening a Feature):

"1boy, short hair, high school uniform, standing, balcony, [cloud], ultra-detailed, cinematic lighting."
Visual Comparison:
Weakened `[cloud]` → Less prominentOriginal `cloud` → Neutral presenceStrengthened `(cloud)` → Highly emphasized

3. Be Specific, But Avoid Overloading

A well-balanced prompt focuses on key details without unnecessary clutter.

Good Example:

"1girl, wavy blonde hair, green eyes, floral sundress, sitting, wooden bench, sunny garden, soft lighting, retro style."

Bad Example (Overloaded & Conflicting):

"1girl, wavy blonde hair, green eyes, floral sundress, sitting, holding doll, wooden bench, sunny garden, dragon, flying castle, beach, palm trees, realistic style."
(Too many conflicting elements—distracts from the main subject!)

4. Avoid Ambiguity

Vague prompts lead to unpredictable results. Instead, be precise in describing features.

Unclear Prompt:

"A cool character."
(What defines "cool"? A futuristic warrior? A stylish teen?)

Clear Prompt:

"1girl, spy, hair bun, black hair, aqua eyes, brown eyeshadow, makeup, red lips, red nails, stiletto nail, diamond manicure, jewelry, shiny skin, silver earrings, strapless dress, black dress, collarbone, black pantyhose, thigh, red high heels, standing, rooftop, from behind, cinematic lighting, ultra-detailed, highres"

5. Use Negative Prompts

Specify what you don’t want in the image in negative prompts. On our generation page, we provide a list of default negative tags to filter out things that might lower the quality of your image. You are welcome to change or add other undesired content to the list.

Example Negative Prompt:

"worst quality, bad quality, very displeasing, displeasing, bad anatomy, artistic error, lowres, bad hands, signature, artist name, multiple views, variations, old, oldest, missing fingers, excess fingers, extra hands, excess hands*"*

Final Thoughts

Writing effective prompts is both an art and a science. By following these guidelines—structuring your prompts logically, using emphasis techniques, avoiding ambiguity, and experimenting—you’ll gain greater control over AI-generated images.
Now, it’s your turn! Start crafting prompts, refine them, and watch your creative visions come to life. Happy generating! 🚀🎨
